Gerardo Ortiz emerged in the city of Cuenca in the year of 1953, when Don Gerardo Ortiz, recognized merchant and local carrier acquired a grocery wholesale market on August 10.
Selling groceries, Gerardo Don and Doña Carmen, his wife, won the confidence of its customers and thus the satisfaction of feeling well served. A year later, thanks to the knowledge of the purchase of coffee beans, they entered in the production and sale of coffee processed the same which today is known as coffee cubanito.
Later, with the development of the sector of footwear in the province of Azuay, Don Gerardo decided to expand their business through the sale of raw materials and accessories for this line.
In 1975, children are who give a twist to their business, after setting the front, Patricio, Angel and Rosita Ortiz, they entered the chemical industry with the implementation underway, adhesives, plastics and footwear, ADHEPLAST accessories factory.
Thanks to their vision and desires of expansion, today they are those who directed the third largest of the Ecuador, Gerardo Ortiz and children commercial and industrial group.
